What runs through the minds of women who are Obnoxious bread winners.

Breadwinner

Notice: Array to string conversion in /home/obyoriji/public_html/wp-content/plugins/insert-post-ads/apis/vi/api.php on line 419

Naturally, every Women no matter the strata of the society they belong to or come from, have it at the back of their mind that they are princesses, something most Dads have brought up their kids no matter what the reality portrayed. Girls who have had their self confidence taken away from them as kids, through bullying, body shaming, abuse or even just by their very own mindset, still have it at the back of your head that you are suppose to be a princess, and thereby feel weird when it is not as it is suppose to.

Pas a girl, You not wanting to be, or not feeling like a princess automatically  in the men’s world, makes you feel like you are weird, and anti social. The notion that a man will always come to save you as a lady, has eaten deep into the mindset of the 90’s kids, that they grew up, always looking for the Prince Charming to come save them. Some organization felt guilty when they realised that kids who have looked up to them while growing up, have actually believed and imbibed the notion of a Prince Charming coming to save. And such Establishments include Disney. But lately, Disney and every other establishment have actually begun the correction of mindset of girls. They now produce cartoons with storylines that intentionally had nothing to do with a princess being rescued. They now have princess rescuing themselves, and even rescuing the men who would have been the ones to save them.

Breadwinner
Breadwinner

Now with this mindset, a young lady who was brough up, especially in the African setting where a man is expected to come into the life of a growing girl, and rescue her from poverty, taking her to wealth, they come rescue her from the village life style and take her to the city, come Marry you and automatically change your life and that of your family members. The Igbo men spend so much time making Money before getting married because the Igbo culture tells every girl that the moment she gets married, she is no longer suppose to known any thing called poverty, talk more of experiencing it.  Women are told to sit and eat when they get married, while  the husband takes care of her. Even those who haven’t ever seen any of he Disney movies before in the village but share this same idea to their mind, but have the same mind set with the Channel story telling idea, The African woman expects her husband to be a provider to her and their offsprings untill the day he dies.

With all these orientation, a typical women who gets Married to a man, expects to the sit and experience all that they have been told by their parents. But when this man who has the trust of the woman he calls a wife, and the woman who sees him as a super hero, decides to fall short along the way, selling his ultimate responsibility as their bread winner to his wife. A woman who is suppose to be his pampered princess, now becomes a bread winner for him, this brings out the other side of a woman no one ever know she had.

Breadwinner
Breadwinner

She assumes the position of a husband to her husband, a father to the kids, a dictator, a provider, a breadwinner, a mother, a cook, a care giver, and still a sexual partner, All at the same time.

The softness of this women takes a back seat, while her game face comes forth. She gets frustrated and ashamed to be taking her husband’s job,  A man she looked up to is suddenly a weakly to her, she starts to look at men who are high and richer than she is, because no matter where and what a woman is, the need for a partner is significantly felt. When her husband is not the man she had always wanted him to be, she looks for a husband in the men who she is not suppose to.

The wife is angry at him for putting her in that position, and disappointed in him  as he breaks his promise to provide for her and her kids for ever, and angry at him for reducing the mental image she had of him, into this good for nothing, who seats at home all know waiting for her to come home and feed her and the kids.

A woman might help out from time to time in the family with bills, but making her the bread winner, will bring out the traits you should have never seen. This is the time men complain of their wives being so bossy, so disrespectful, and  treating them like a kid. Why won’t she treat you like a kid when you are practically being a kid to her. During this time, if you don’t go get yourself a job and regain you dignity, your position will drop from the childlike position, to that of a house help. You clean the kids and the house, and even the wife.

The dignity of a man, intensely lies on his ability to provide for this family, especially a wife. So Dear men, don’t let your wife become a bread winner for long. Rush out to get a job, and take back your position as a head. You can’t eat your cake and have it. This is predicted to get even worse in the future. Go out and do something for yourself. These women these days do 10 times what a man should do. Never forget this .

Lagos, know your Bills: Trash Evacuation Bills.

Trash bills

Trash bills

Dear People of Lagos, we know how every one is a boss in Lagos, until you actually known them, and the secret slips out? When we want everything to be done for us because of our boss status? Well this is for you to know some of the bills before you are made to pay even 10 times the actual bill due to the middle man.  Well, that is not the topic of the day, it is a story for another day. Today is the trash evacuation bill.

This ‘know your bills Friday’ , we will be looking at the trash Evacuation bills. It has come to my notice that many have been swindled by their gatemen, family friends, and relatives while they were handing out the payment to the  bills to the a middle man. Bills for trash evacuation differs from one neighbourhood to the other. The market women and men pay their’s in fractions which is paid collectively according to their agreement.

People living in the slump, have no zeal to pay trash evacuation bills, since they rather live with it. So they are known to avoid and dodge these bills.

Early last year 2017,  the Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode made a law where the rich will be robbed to pay the  bills of the poor. This means that , if you are living In a respectable neighbourhood, you will be charged higher than those who are not. And if you are living in Ikoyi and Banana Isalnd, Ikeja G.R.A, yours is higher than those in Lekki, V.I, Ikeja Esatates,  so your Lawma bill is as follows.

Trash bills
Trash bills

.A unit pays N4000 for a month.

.A building is a unit.

An apartment In a building is not a unit.

A three ,four, five, stores building is a unit.

A storeybuilding that houses 8 flats, will all contribute their money  to pay N4000 for the  month.

This emphasis is not a joke, it was born as a result  of my building  falling a victim to our former security guy, who took the 12k for three months receipt, meant for the whole buildiNG , which is a unit, to individual apartments, collecting 12 thousand each from six apartment making it 72k instead of 12k. While he pays 12k tot he trash evacuation company, he pockets 60k for himself. All because we just were too reluctant to investigate something so simple, or even pay the bills by ourselves. He did this for. Year plus, and constantly gave the impression that he was more than a gateman to us. He smiled while stabbing us in the back, this amongst many more bill crimes he committed.  So please, take note guys  and know just what is expected of you to pay as your bill.

Middlemen are the problem….

The exact amount of power used by post paid meter users is unknown to PHCN.

Meters

The Nigerian meter issue has been an insignificant topic for a very long time, when Nigerians got use to the only meter they have ever known. Not until the PHCN, then NEPA, decided to convert the post paid meters to the prepaid in the early 2000, giving Nigerians a taste of transparency in their power usage. Even  though the power holding company then, did it to curb the amount of illegal happenings between power company and power consumers, they didn’t know that they were doing the general public a favour by exposing them to a better way of handling and monitoring the true reading of their electric bills.

Initially, Nigerians repelled the idea of change as usual even though what they had, was nothing to write home about. But  with series of explanations and tricks to convince them and an eventually threat, Nigerians gave in to the pre paid meter idea, and after installation was done,  usage  commenced, it immediately became clear that the Power holding was right after all. The new meter makes you conscious of your power usage, and you are in charge of your own bill, with prove and readings for the very first time,”  it was indeed better than the previous one.” Nigerians screamed in joy, even though not everyone loved it as much.

But since everything in life comes with its good and bad sides,  it didn’t  take long for the bad side of this meter to show up. 15 years later,  the same power holding company (even though their name changed),  noticed that their consumers have found a way of using power without it reading on their meter (direct connection).

Now doing the unthinkable, the power authority is now going back to their vomit, pushing to have their consumers change back to the primitive post paid meter, even going as far as trying to impose it on learned citizens of Nigeria, who now more than anything, know their rights. They tried it with the prominent residents of Federal Low Cost housing estate of Jos Plateau state, who were accused of all doing the illegal connection, but the residents had too many prominent men and women, even the current Governor was and still is a resident of the Estate, even as he occupies the Government house. Last year, The Estate sued PHCN, and surprisingly won. They sure knew their right, as  The court stopped them from changing the meters back to post paid. This gave other residents in the state and its surrounding the go ahead to vehemently reject the new meter. The PHCN Couldn’t believe how much smarter, the world had gotten from the early 2000s.

Meters

THE PROBLEM WITH POST PAID METERS….

I rev toy noticed that the PHCN on its own, like 15 years ago, has no way of keeping record of the exact amount of energy individual consumers use. Isn’t this the most unbelievable thing to hear in 2018.?

So if the people had agreed to the meter change again, it would have been the exact  same experience like they had in the years before the 2000? They haven’t had anything changed or improved. They just wanted to keep shifting from on meter to the other when they wanted it, thinking people don’t know their left from their right. They have been surprised at the awakening call from Nigerians themselves.

Well, this company keeps taking the notion of a non functional, non growing, non improving, non impressing, non accountable  to a new level. Have you tried calling PHCN costumer care line? Let me save you the stress Dear Nigerians, you won’t reach anyone. The recorded lady keeps reading out options to you, until you change your mind and end the call.

I called them to complain heavily when they started bringing gauge sums of bills to us for our pumping machine, which happen to be running on a post paid meter. The bill was unbelievably high, that I decided to investigate it. They brought us 12 thousand Naira a month for pumping water for the six flats in the building, and that was considered ok, untill four tenants moved out, leaving only two families, and we still got the same 12 thousand Naira as bills. We paid it 24 thousand Naira for 2 months, and started to Complain to them, and was dumbfounded, when we came home one afternoon, five weeks after making the 24 thousand Naira which was meant to be for two months, only to see that they have left another bill with the security guy. We checked it, and were dumbfounded to see the  sum of 81 thousand Naira as the bill for 5 weeks. Even if we were a cash wash company, or a water producing company, we won’t use 81 thousand Naira worth of water for five weeks.

I went to investigate this preposterousness and was told that they actually take the total readings from a general neighbourhood transformer, and share the bills the way they choose to the building that are connected to that particular  Transformer without know who used what. Which means that if you were conservative with power usage  for the whole month, you will still be asked to pay a huge sum of money as your bill. Mind you, the meter was just for pumping water for the building, as every apartment had its own pre paid meter for personal use. At this point, my shock knew no bound.

First of all, how did they even come to that as the best solution for the individuals of different households? Didn’t it occur to you that it is incredibly wrong to spread bills indiscriminately to people who don’t live togther. What if a manufacturing company is situated on that  neighbourhood (like in my case), and the bills from the transformer is then spread across the building connect to the it, does that mean that the manufacturing company will have its neighboring buildings pay its bills? This is by primitive and unbelievable. People are made to pay for the incompetence of the power holding company from their own pocket. They are even at liberty to add any amount the want,  to the bills they are bringing to you. So just because you don’t want to have shortage while accounting at the end of the month,  you make innocent people pay for your company to keep running smoothly. This is incredibly disturbing.

So for everyone using a post paid meter in Nigerian, I am sorry to let you know that you are seriously being exploited by the power holding company on a daily basis.

What topic turns awkward sitting females to chatty friends the most?

Topics to get a group of ladies chatting

Topics to get a group of ladies chatting

Hi Ladies, We all know that very naturally repulsive behaviour we exhume when in the midst of other unfamiliar females right? The mere fact that we have left our comfort zone(home) to a public place, has made it even necessary for us to swallow up our smiles and friendliness, and turn into passive territorial warlords.

Topics to get a group of ladies chatting
Topics to get a group of ladies chatting

Without knowing each other, Ladies have their first impression of each other when they meet for the first time. And from my experience, it has always been the very same impression they give off to each other before they open their mouth to even exchange pleasantries.
“Hmmm,, why is she forming?”
“What is she feeling like”
“Who does she think she is?”
“Olosho oshi, karuwa, akuna kuna?”

All kinds of condescending speeches are said about them from a fellow lady who hasn’t met them before. But when ladies act like this towards each other, there us every tendency that they might end that day being friends or familiar buddies.(it happens mostly when they don’t have the same love interest). After they have spoken and corrected the wrong impression they have of each other, you hear an immediate change of speech,

” That girl is nice oh..”

” she is not as bad as we thought oh..”

“No,, don’t mind her face oh, she is actually a nice girl”

A little line of conversation between the both of them, will immediately change their mind set on each other.

But when the naturally uptight ones converge, they have the very similar topics that loosens them up and turns them into gist buddies. The topics that I am a master or raising in the midst of awkwardly converged girls always flow in this manner:

. Topics about relationships, should specifically centre around mean boyfriends, and their sexual rampage among friends: Since at one point in time, a lady is insecure about one body part or the other,so  they have a partner cheat on them with a close friend or relative. For this reason, the moment a person raises a topic that sounds familiar to their own  predicament, they are quick to forget their ego, and share their own experience with a partner of their, even though most times they claim its a friends experience and not theirs.

.A little gossip about a celebrity relationship will go a long way: Bad mouthing  a celebrity that they look up to, but cant be like, helps them feel better about themselves, and this always works.

.Stories about Sex softens and cracks them up:  when ladies are seated and quietly judging each other maliciously, the one topic that brings forth a teeth flash in amusement, is always sexual topics.

.The state that produces the best boyfriend/husbandAnd other topic that instantly brings out the defensive side, is the area of the best state with he best boyfriends/husbands. Females are quick to join in on this topic. They are always willing to say the tribe that has impressed or still impressing them. This one time, I said it was Delta side that had the most junk in the trunk, and my Igbo friends were having it. They will want to say how the Igbos are the best husbands. A testimony they claim even other tribes have testified.

Your job is not to prove them wrong as they enthusiastically argue, your top is always to bring in the hit topic, and let them express themselves. It helps them feel better about situation even you have no idea were that big a deal to them.

So when you see a group of ladies quietly seated, don’t be quick to judge them, throw in any of these conversation topics, and have them express their frustration. After this, you watch them become a lively, happy group of playful humans.

They say sex and exercise eases stress, I think gossip can be added to this group.

Thank me later…

Behaviours, We all should leave behind this new year.

images

Happy new year guys. You all are Welcome to 2018, I am glad we made it, and grateful to God that we did.

This new year, I am almost so convinced that a lot of Good things will  happen to us, so I will be needing a lot of feedbacks from you readers when yours happens, so we can get closer in our blogger reader relationship.

So I have sat myself down, I told myself some bitter truth about the behaviours, I definitely need to drop behind, and burn to ashes the year. I have dropped them right at the foot of 2017. If you did the same problems like I do, then let’s drop them together.

2018resolution
2018resolution

. EXPECTANCY:

This year 2018, I will always remind myself that people are not super humans, they make mistakes just  like I do, and must  be pardoned for them, just  like God does to us. I will reduce my expectation from people to the  very minimum. I will let my self be surprised by the good people who value trust relationships, rather than be disappointed by every single person because I was expecting too much from them. This year, I expect nothing from anyone, but will appreciate the effort of everyone who tried to live up to their words. I will expect nothing..

.ANGER:

All my life, I have been known to be a sensitive person right from birth. Easily offended, easily reactive, easily spotting the bad side of people, and not easily letting go. It has been a rather energy demanding traits, which has never been useful in anyway. Bringing more harm than good, breaking relationships, and ending friendships. For that reason, I HAVE STOPPED IT. No more anger in 2018.

.TALKING LESS:

This year 2018, the act of talking too much, will be minimized, and converted to writing a lot. Everything needed for me to say, will be on the blog. My mind and mouth are so connected that they relay quick information to each other, and that is dangerous. Most times when I am angry, I express my feelings the exact way that I feel, which is not suppose,  This  has never been a cute situation. I offend myself, and the other person involved, ending things that I value. THAT MUST STOP ..

.OVER THINKING:

The act of Trying to have a perfect picture in your head, with a perfect plan, and a perfect result, has bandaged my mind for a long time. Always thinking things through, is not always good for you . I will take risks this year, no doubt about that, without minding the outcome (Good risks though). I will  just go with the flow. (The good kind of flow), and expand my happy place with others in it.

.FORGIVE:

To all those who have wronged me, I forgive you. To all those who will wrong me in future, I will free myself and everyone else from the trend of mental torture, and prison. If I have ever wronged you too, I beg that you forgive me, and let’s move on. I will forgive and hope you do the same this year, to free you mind, mental health and conscience this year.

. I WILL GIVE LOVE A CHANCE:

This year, I am willing to let myself love and be loved. I will free every person of the sin of the previous ones. I will not judge any human being with the sins of the predecessors,  Everyone will stand for his/herself, and not get compared to any other person. I will be happier this, make more money and spend my money on myself and my family  this year, be kind to others and the needy this year, and Love God more this year.

And I will definitely be kind to all those who have been kind to me this year, because I love that part the most. I always feel the need to retaliate kindness immediately it is done to me. And hope to hear your feedbacks this year as well.

.write more books this year, start up businesses this year, and always have time for you all this year.

I only just realised yesterday, That I needed to approve messages before the get shown on the blog comment. I have had thousands of messages that never got approved. I am so sorry for that, and from now on, I will approve appropriate messages on the blog every single day.

HAPPY 2018!!!!!!!!!

The reason why more people get into trouble before crossing into the new year.

Happy New year

The last hours of a year has been known to be very sensitive for many reasons. Humans have given themselves  a deadline, expecting themselves to achieve and obtain things before crossing over to the new year. The people who had sworn to be a certain thing, in a certain place and with a certain someone before the year runs out,  have it at the back of their mind that they still have the chance to carry out their goals before the strike of midnight.

Happy New year
Happy New year

Some spiritual people will always tell you that you have to be in the cross over service to usher in the new year. First of all, we are expected to pray every single day for as many times as possible, and not only cross over. Just because the year is coming to an end doesn’t mean that we now have to pray only then.

Happy New year
Happy New year

Cross over is not the only time God listens to prayers guys, he actually  listens to prayers all the time, all year round.  So many people  have held onto the crossover nights with the reason that their pastor of religious leader had told them. So, while others are home safe trying to stay out of trouble before the new year, others fight tooth and nail to make it to a far away church, in any means necessary, there by getting into all kinds of troubles.  This is a very common case in Nigeria, where People are involved in road accidents, police cases, street  fights, pick pockets, and all.

Happy New year
Happy New year

Nigerians believe that if you don’t  come together  with your church  members on the 31st night to cast, bind, and kill your enemies with prayers, then your new year won’t be as blessed as the Lord God had intended it to. This is the notion that puts people right in the spot of danger.  Over the years, people who attended cross over nights were targeted by the deadly Boko haram, or gun men, or just thieves looking to rob unsuspecting people, leading to the loss of lives.

Stepping away from the Religious ones, into the zone of SLAY mamas and papas. Some other people belief that they have to spend it in the club, or parties. With the notion that they try to drink as much alcohol as possible for some reason, which is so hard for me to understand. Why do you see the need to drink too much before the new year? Do they charge higher for the drink ?or does it taste better than it would in the new year? or does it get expired the moment the new year starts? Why do you just have to drink irresponsibly before the new year? Why? Someone needs to explain to me.

Happy New year
Happy New year

Parties and clubs or even gatherings at stadium and viewing center for sometime now, had been a very huge target for depressed and gun violent, religious fanatics in 2017.  Even before 2017, a happy crowd always draws the attention of a depressed fellow who feels the need to put people in the same bad mood that they are in.

So far, staying at home with the people you love, is the only option, But that too, is not a guarantee. People have come in contact with unimaginable horrors while innocently staying home, So this doesn’t mean home is the best place. But for us humans, home is the best place for us especially me, Blogging you into the new year, because There is no Holiday for me.

While the NEWYORKERS  gather to count down, the LAGOSIANS gather to pray, parry and slay. This right here, means different strokes for different folks. So no one is in any position to tell others how to spend their cross over night, it is solemnly their choice. But where ever you are, don’t forget to be careful, make right decisions, and finally, pray to  God.

Happy New year guys…..🎉🎇🎊🎆🎂🎈

Obyorijitruth: The two types of 21st century Engagements.

Two Types of engagements

My dear awesome readers from Nigeria and other Countries, we all know that very famous thing that has taken over our life and privacy in this era as humans. It has shown  its pro’s and Con’s in our lives today, but the moment we are brave enough to start, we sell our soul, and automatically can’t stop.

Two Types of engagements
Two Types of engagements

My Dad who is not an internet addict, can go on without it forever. But for me, I dare not stay without the internet for a week. Being a blogger, I love to spend time here writing for you all, or I will simply feel sick.

Now, if the Internet  is this important to me as an individual, how about we then multiple it to the number of youths all over the world, who have enthusiastically declared that there are two lives. ‘The real life’ and ‘the social media life’.

Two Types of engagements
Two Types of engagements

The types of ENGAGEMENT, has also been termed the one planned by one, and the one planned by two or more people.

At one point in our existence, (in the 90s and early 20s), engagement was only done once, but with our internet reign, engagement now has two types:

The one where men, decide to plan it on their own and just pop the question to their girl, while their have a friend or sibling take photos and making videos for the people who were there to witness it, especially the internet guys.

Two Types of engagements
Two Types of engagements

On the other hand, some women these days, go with their guy to a jewelry store of their choice (if it is within their reach), and specifically point out the kind of ring that would suit their status. The guy buys it or they both do, he holds on to it, while they plan the right time and place to have the coincidence planned and exhibited.

These girls are easy to spot. Because even though they may cry, They have worked on their reactions for this time, for only God knows how long.

The sincere reaction gets subdued by the acting, but if you look closely, it is very clear to spot.

Two Types of engagements
Two Types of engagements

Now that we know that, it is clear to us, that there are two main type of engagement we have now. The type you used or want to use, is dependent on the partner you have chosen. As for me, I have no idea which I want. I use to think I want the planned one, but I am never sure of what I want.

Video: Kevin Hart puts aside jokes to dish advice to his fans for the new year.

no thumb

kevin hart puts jokes aside to tell it like it is. #2018truth. For those people that would rather scream the problem than proffer solutions, for those people that would rather discourage your attempts, than help to build. For those who make you belief that you have to be like a certain person to please them, and for those who hang around you to serve as an informant to the opposition party, it is the to cut that thread. Lose the bond, set them free, so they can fly to another victim. In 2018, we only spend time looking at the good of every situation. #obyorijisblog #mentalhealthnigeria

The Lagos State Government plans to deploy over 900,000 electronically tracked waste bins and 600 brand new compactors among other facilities to manage the over 10,000 metric tons of waste generated in the state daily.

I am honestly love the idea of the Lagos state government being clearly concerned with the waste situation of the state, that he actually makes a move towards improving it.

Even though our waste management is a big problem,  buying new things on the other hand, has never a problem in Nigeria. We as a Nation, are obsessed with importation and expensive purchases. But my in dividing concern has always been the maintenance culture of our leaders.

If this imported waste bin, and compactors get worn out and stop working in future, what then? Will the government have a maintenance system to service and repair these products when they develop faults? Or will they get another budget to just buy a brand new batch of the same thing, while the old ones sit by the road and rust in neglect, then become a bigger problem to the society than the dirt itself.

Electronic trash truck in Lagos

I really am concerned with ‘Maintenance‘ because that was my concern when we had these really new batch of eye candy BRTs, they were deliciously good looking, until they started to wear out, having broken parts, misused,  and no plans were made to fix them back up. They practically went from BRT to danfo buses in a matter of half a decade. Any body can wake up and  request for Government money to buy a new batch of public common goods. But when these goods need a little fixing and repainting, and rehabilitation, what happens then? They turn a deaf ear, and repeat the process of buying new ones all over again.

This has always been my problem and from the look of things, it hadn’t been fixed. Because everyday, I see things that make me wonder if this habit is only for COMMON GOODS.

Is this the way we manage out homes? Things go bad and we turn a blind eye to it, and replace it with a brand new one immediately? This needs to stop. Every day, we read about Nigeria borrowing money from foreign countries to fix one thing or the other, and then the money gets stolen by politician elected to protect it ,  no one is caught or held responsible, because they have many people involved in sharing the money, no maintenance culture, no follow ups.

Dear Lagos State Government, we need these things repaired and painted when the time comes, instead of replacing them.

This should be a job for Peter Obi.

Photo of the 2,000 bags of Ebonyi rice and 2,000 tubers of Ebonyi yam that were gifted to president Buhari during his visit to the state.

Rice and tubers of yam for PMB

I love the idea of gifting to anyone, especially when the “have not are being surprising generous to the haves” it is a nice gesture especially in the African culture.

These pictures depict the  2,000 bags of Ebonyi rice and 2,000 tubers of Ebonyi yam that were presented to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Government and people of Ebonyi state during his official visit on Nov. 14. 2017

But when Ebonyi state, a state known for it deficiency in basic amenities, serious case of starvation, heightened poverty which is very evident, and even lack of  government caressing hands of revenue allocation, showing no signs of care.

I can present to you endless list of people living in this same country, who would have survived on a tuber, or 15kg of rice which is not up to any bag sitting there.

What made them think that the President will feed on Ebonyi  rice and yam? What if had his rice imported into the Country? How about we find out what happened to this gifts.

Was it sent to his in-laws and relatives in the North, or shared to people who already have too much money, that they can buy themselves 2000 bags of rices and a whole barn.

People (The have nots),  have formed the habit of taking every thing they have, that can keep them alive to gift to the the haves.

All in the name of looking for attention. I schooled in the east, so I can single handedly tell you that I have seen Ebonyi people living in abject poverty  in a foreign Anambra land. They never feed fine because there isn’t enough money to make ends meet, they have more kids than the wealthy.

In as much as we love the President a lot, I am of the opinion that these gifts would go a long way in helping the people of Ebonyi even if for a week.

Oby Oriji fitness: The more abandoned buildings, the more crimes.

Abandoned buildings

Before we start our chat,I will need you to go outside of your home and look at the houses on your street, estate, area. Look from your left, to your right meticulously. Look to confirm, whether physically or mentally ( that is,if you can’t physically check it), if you live there, you might as well remember every Abandoned building, and you are probably  ashamed of being seen checking for an Abandoned buildings😁😁😁😁. Well that’s fine, let’s continue.

Go right  ahead and recall, if there is a building that hasn’t had tenants renting it for a while. This is because if you succeed in finding one on your street, then you are officially expected,to be extra careful to take notice of all the activities going on, in and around that building.

Abandoned building is not a structure that should be feared (even though the ones in my village, freak me out),  but if you have any around your home, it is only safe to have you, your family, friends and your kids  take note of the activities taking place  in that particular building, and avoid it. It will be better to call the cops, but then again, you might be mistaking.

If you have a neighbourhood watch, they as well, should be made to frequent the abandoned buildings for the sake of normalcy.

“City Law breakers watch’, has over the years,  given us every reasons to believe that crime rates increases, with an increase in abandoned buildings.

Criminals are quick to identify a building that has been abandoned for a while, and is available for their evil deeds. Thus is because their mindset is all about being smart for the negatives Alone. While you see it ad a building that needs to be occupied, they see it as a tool to be used, before it gets occupied.

Since crime is not what anyone is particularly proud to be identified by, people who do them, feel a lot better when they are in their privacy.

If they don’t live alone, and have neighbours, then they go in search of an abandoned building to carry out their criminal dealings. The possibility of ghost activities taking place there, is pretty high. (That is the worst to me)

With that said, I will like to mention, that there are a lot of abandoned building in this our Lagos state Nigeria. while there are equally a lot if homeless fellows in need of a roof over their head. Buildings that should be used to improve revenue production of the Country, have been abandoned for years. Most of them have Owners living outside the Country only coming home to use it only when in Nigeria, while the rest, no one ever comes to it. And when you try to inquire the reason why this is so, it is basically the same answer that you get. “The case is in court” or  “The owner has been taken to court”.

Abandoned buildings
Abandoned buildings

You see people in desperate need of a shop space in big markets like Balogun or Eko Market on the island with no success. Since it is one of the internationally recognised markets, It has people from all over the Country, converging there to buy and sell. For this reason, everyone is looking to have space there. I have counted up to 5 sky scraper in that Particular market, That has no one in them. It is incredibly surprising when you investigate the number of unconcluded court cases involving buildings in Lagos state. Why though? Why can’t courts conclude cases before completely abandoning it to move to the next one? This is one of the factors that is enabling the Lagos crime rate and corruption. People have defrauded unsuspecting victims, selling abandoned buildings that is not there’s. Abandoned buildings are used to harm citizens on a daily basis, and most city law makers in some countries, have taken it upon themselves to purge their cities of Abandoned buildings.

If the owner is not ready to leave there, then he or she is made to rent the building out, or even sell it, for the good of the surrounding buildings.

Abandoned buildings
Abandoned buildings

An outrageous statistics of People are homeless, not because they can’t rent a house in Lagos, but because they haven’t been able to fine themselves a house to rent. If half the number of abandoned buildings in Lagos are rehabilitated and rented out, the situation of the city will be proved. The rate of poverty in the land, has forced a lot of people to live in an abandoned building, mostly uncompleted, with make shift windows and doors. I once came across a woman who used to live in an abandoned building when I was in the university, I asked her if they stay there for free since it hasn’t been completely in any way. And she surprised me, telling me that they pay rent almost as significant as the people who live in complete and well furnished buildings. And I was surprised to learn that.

The Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, has more than he bargained for on his plate, since assuming office. He has been fixing up roads, decorating the State, and erecting historical structures. But we will like for him to look into the case of abandoned building in the City of Lagos if that is in any way possible. Because a lot of Governors have come and gone, but abandoned building stand the taste of time.

Oby Oriji safety: As seen by a road user.

Car on three legs seen in Lagos

Have you ever thought of something, and then you stop yourself from going further with the thought, because things like that can only happen in cartoons and dreams?

Well, don’t stop yourself anymore, because they can happen in real life. This is the photo of a car on three wheels while the fourth one is running on a roller. The disturbing part of this, is that we have many uniformed men standing on their duty post, in the name of keeping road users safe from hoodlums who run other people into danger due to irresponsible action while they drive.

Even though many have accused the uniform men of not doing their jobs, while others have said otherwise, this picture eludes me. That something this disturbing is freeing happening without fear of impunity. Take a good look at this photo guys. This is dangerous in every sense of the word.

Obyorijiblogmas: The five things Nigeria Bachelors are mostly afraid of in December.

Christmas bachelors

It is almost Christmas guys, and while the girls are waiting for the eligible bachelors from the diaspora  to come and sweep them away from the home based boys who are not decisive enough to put a ring on that finger, the boys are also having their own fear of living through the month, and surviving the tension. They might look very well put together and unbothered in public, but deep down, these are what bothers them the most in the month of December.

.PAY WEEK:

While the month of December rushes to an abrupt end to everybody’s dismay, the bachelors worry mostly  about when  their much anticipated pay gets to their bank account. Guys who having been saving all through the year, still have a heightened anticipation for their December  pay and bonus. Some people have planned the arrival of their pay right from the beginning of the month, that when it gets delayed even for a week, they are the most upset. So most guys hope to get their pay when they have planned to get it and need it the most. Their fear is when it goes the other way.

When it goes the other way, it hurts because you have family and friends calling you right from 3rd December to wish you a merry Christmas, Just To make  sure that they’d make it to your ultimate Christmas list . This is because in Nigeria, we have only one list, and that list is the ‘send you account detail’ list.

After the money is eventually gotten, the next problem will be splitting it amongst the people you have in mind to help this Christmas. Another fear gets up when you have less money than the list of people you have on your help list.

. RIGHT GIFT TO BUY FOR WHICH GIRL?

While many are planning on  how to make the very serious decision on how the mode of transport to travel on, others are deciding the right time to go shopping for Christmas just to have the cheapest prices, Some guys are deciding  where the family will spend the Christmas, While a bachelor somewhere is deciding what gift to get his girlfriend, another one is deciding what girl has been good enough to deserve a gift.

Guys with a hand full of girlfriends fear the most in December. According to what I have been told, many bachelors in Nigeria break up with their girlfriends when it is Christmas because they are avoiding getting her a gift, or even giving her the Impression that they are not  serious enough to spend Christmas together. This can’t happen  talk more of meeting the parents during a Christmas family lunch. So when girls don’t get gifts from their boyfriends,it  simply means that you didn’t make the cut. He has gone with a different girl for reasons best known to him, and for that, I am sorry.

.EXPECTATION FROM FAMILY MEMBERS

In as much as single girls dread any festive period that will bring the family together, automatically meaning that  those fearless Aunties will ask you when you plan to invite them to come eat rice and sip on some drinks at their wedding, they need to know that The guys also have the same problem because Nigerians love weddings.  When a guy is old enough to settle down, especially in the Igbo land, he is also not off the hook. Family members come for him in all direction with the question of  who they are deciding  to style with, and when they intend to introduce them to her.

This is the festive period, it is when parents especially mothers,  introduce their sons to the maiden that has found Favour before their eyes all through the year. Young ladies rush to run errands for that brother that has just arrived from the United States or the United Kingdom. They offer to show him around the village for no reason, they offer to keep him company while he is seeing a movie in a family house full of family members (he is clearly not lonely girlfriend) .  This is the time when girls bring out their cooing skill to the glory of their family, to charm one bachelor of the other. Bachelors are officially placed under pressure by literally every one that surrounds him in December. Friends ask you if you like her, parents ask you if you love her, and you ask yourself if you can tolerate her.

.THE ‘AIN’T IT ‘RETURNEES:

This is the group that the Nigerian bachelors fear the most.  The young eligible guys who returned from diaspora to spend Christmas with their families in Nigeria, are known to be the takers of every body’s girlfriend. They come with smooth accent, looking so confidence and healthy, that all Nigerian girls notice them easily.

They come back to he country single, but take home a bride to the U.S. So, the Nigerian based bachelors don’t take it likely with them ‘ain’t it boys’. They single handedly give a heart attack to their counterpart Who have been holding down things while they are away.

.MEETING THE GIRL’s FAMILY.

This is the time when guys run out of their mind, trying to come up with the mode reasonable excuse to dodge going to see the parents of their girlfriends, because they are avoiding the ‘what Is your plan with my daughter’ question, that responsible parents ask. This is when the girls will know if their boo is ready to make it permanent, or he is basically just going to keep posting until he finds another boo.

Christmas is the right time for women to read the body language of their boyfriends, which in turn scares the heck out of these guys.

So, after the fear of their girls being stolen, the next is thing they fear is making it serious with the girl.

ObyOrijifitnessblogmas: Maintaining a flat belly this Christmas season

Christmas

We all are super excited to have this years Christmas arrive. Words can sparsely explain the excitement filled in the hearts of the adults and children of the world. Some being so naughty, and others pretending to be nice while being intensely mean. I for one will be interested in the naughty peopl if I am made Santa for a day.  *just saying*

Christmss in Nigeria is known for one thing. If we are being sincere, it is  Food, food and food. And for every  one who has been good enough to maintain an Ok body through out the year, Christmas is always a time of trials and  temptation. You have relatives and family members who you haven’t seen in a while, friends and siblings who have the choicest gist for you concerning people you all know. In the midst of all these, you are completely going to let down your guard, and eat things that you are not suppose to, because everything will look incredible delicious and attractive to you when you are happy to be in the midst of those you love. So how do we help our selves in this trial periods of Christmas.

Helping the belly

For one, we will try not  eat all day and all night just because there is good every where.

. When in the midst of people who will make you forget your weight consciousness, always remember that heavy food consumption ends with the day. Which means that it ends when the day ends. When night falls, do not let any heavy food into you mouth. Go for liquids, fruits, and light snacks, tea and bread.

.My Nigerian compatriot should specifically be mindfully with the constant intake of Eba and delicious  Nigerian soups.

. Do not completely neglect your workout routine. Instead of letting family members distract you, you should see them as an encouraging factor. They should join you in your workout, not stopping you from doing the right thing. But remember,  Simple ones first. Exercise to start with, are the easy one though.

Simple belly workouts

First step: Lay on your back, stretch out your legs and have your Hands by your side.

Lift your pair of legs (both legs) from the floor half way up, forming an angle with your upper body, forming a capital letter L. And take them back to the ground together immediately.

Lift Both legs and drop them  back down 20 times, which means counting up and down as one, for 20 times. Touching your toes as the come up to your face. The left hand will touch the right leg’s toes when it comes up, while the right hand will touch the left toe’s when it comes up.

Do five batches of  20 lifts (up and down = 1 count), making it 100 counts.

20 up and down =1 batch

100 up and down= 5 batches

REMEMBER, Do it 5 times, which is 5 batches

This is called the Touch your toes move, and it is very efficient in flattening your tummy. This is because it flexes your belly muscle, keeping them active, when they grind the fat away in the process. So this is simple and efficient. If you are determined enough, you can do even more than hundred counts, and probably do it morning and night.

Invite your mother, daughter, sister, friend, cousins, and so on, to come join you for some moral support. You might even make a bet just to keep their interest on it. Place a bet to get their attention. Feel free to tell me how it went, cos I will appreciate some pictures And stories.

The problem of ‘Nigerian churches and no free school’ has broken my heart for a long time.

We plan anyway

So I just heard a mind blowing story about he unbelievable, humongous, outrageous, incredibly high amount of dollars and Nairas creeping into the churches of Nigeria. I can’t even believe that with all these money mentioned, that these churches still have poor Members in them, like intensely poor members.  This is even harder for me to think that they don’t have free schools, homes for their members yet.  I tried to find the name of a free school for church that could be owned by these expensive churches. I have not been able to do that even uptill,.   This led to me sitting and reminiscing the life of the initial missionaries who brought the gospel to Africa. These guys had free schools for converts, which you can’t find now, free lunch for children  at school, and didn’t even have half as much charity as we have today. Charity has been funding churches, generous individuals of the society have been sponsoring the church, and wealthy members of theses churches including the poor ones who have been compelled just to have s good sense of belonging. But the rich have so far, been kind enough to donate huge sums of money to the church at every time the pastor asks.

We Will at least cut down on the poking done to churches if they can at least have free schools for members . Not the society this time around, just the children of members who clearly are struggle through live. I honestly would love to have this come to pass just for the poor I our midst who are either too shy to say, or too deep in the make believe world to say they need help. Because of the intense poverty eating deep into members of Christian-doom, I will really love for them to be at least considered.

Please don’t tell  your members that whenever they are going through a rough time, that they are being manipulated by the devil. That is a bid clear path to insincerity. We are all humans, which means that we will have trials and tribulations from life.

Statements like these have made it hard, and even stopped Christians who are going hard times, to confined in churches, which thereby stops them from being helped. If we were encouraged enough to run to the church when ever we are going  through a bad era of life like the pioneering churches did, then we won’t have this high number of poverty stricken people in the church, who are resolving to a life crime instead. Robbery, rituals, amongst others.

It is clear that most of these churches have a higher chances at closing down, than having a free school built for its suffering members. We don’t practice what we preach in this part of the world. we find it very easy to just talk from  now till tomorrow, telling people what they already know, instead of going to places  the gospel has not gotten to yet, who need the money for basic things of life like water, food, clothes, more than we need them for cars, aircrafts, and vacation. So, since we can’t have a free school,  How about we just drastically cut down the fees that these schools charge church members of the Society. What they charge Christians, and Jesus lovers of this world. Gullible members should please  get a grip and pay direct school fees to the needy, and the less previledge of our world.

What you should know before choosing a Glass or Wooden center table.

Glass versus Wood

A Beautiful Sitting room furniture decision.

Making a beautiful centre piece in your home is very vital. A sitting room to be precise, is where you sit down with family and friends for a TV time, gist with others, and is one of the most important thing for every fashion forward human. Your sitting room gives the first impression to friends and visitors. The neatness first, the decorations, and the furniture. Speaking of furniture, what is the best material for your centre table? The very first piece that draws attention to its self whenever a visitor walks into your living space.

Which material do you  think best suits your centre table, glass or wood? Don’t be in a haste to make a decision until you have read the good and bad.

GLASS:  Glass being a reflective surface tends to outshine the rest while they are considered all being considered the best materials.

The good part of choosing glass is that it shines  elegantly as a center piece, it makes modern a subtle sitting room. It is so beautiful.

The bad part of choosing glass is that it gets easily scratched , with kids in a home, it is becomes a dangerous time bomb, waiting to explode. This means that you can gave it broken, and act as a weapon on the kids. Next is that it requires consistent wiping, as the surface easily shows dust settlement. The next is that glass expires. And when it does, it simply breaks.

WOOD: When choosing wood, a lot us put into consideration. it is considered one of the oldest materials for man’s tools. It dates back to the primitive times. In every sitting room today, no matter the race,  Country and Continent, a piece of wooden material is definitely found in a home.

The good thing about wood is that it lasts long, safe for kids, depending on what was made with it. It requires cleaning, but not as frequent as glass does. Different beautiful items are now being made on a daily basis with technological advancement. It is smooth, treated, and long lasting for a home. Unless broken, they have the capacity to last for a very long time depending on its frequent use.

From our little chat, you can now make your decision based on these characteristics I have made available.
