Osun to sack 422 workers over forged certificates

The Osun State Government has directed its ministries, departments and agencies to immediately implement the report of the panel that recommended sacking of the workers who secured employment with forged certificates.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state,  Jacob Adekomi,  confirmed that 422 workers would be affected.

He said the NLC’s intervention helped to reduce the number of those listed for the exit door from 5,000 recommended to 422.

The statement read, “The panel submitted its report and it was adopted for implementation by the immediate past administration. “However, when the new administration came on board in November 2018, the leadership of  Organised Labour Movement in the state appealed passionately to the state government to have a rethink on the implementation of the report.”

If this number of people in one state are said to have used a forged certificate to gain an employment in the government sector, then I can only imagine how many more have not yet been caught, and then I equally imagine how many other actually have a proper certificate.

Why are they just finding out at this time? How long have these guys been using this said certificates and pointing to others who has lesser qualifications at events  and meetings. This is a disturbing turn of events. Many will say that the President is also in the same category, but I’m not many.

Reposted from @punchnewspapers – The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has been operating from his chambers instead of his designated office since January 2019 when he became the acting CJN, SUNDAY PUNCH can confirm.
He continues to operate from ‘Chambers 1’, his old office as a justice of the Supreme Court, despite his swearing in by President Muhammadu Buhari as the substantive CJN on July 24.

As posted by punchnews
Our correspondent visited the CJN’s wing at the sprawling Supreme Court complex in Abuja on Thursday, and found out the place had been deserted since Justice Muhammad assumed office as the acting CJN on January 25, 2019.
President Buhari swore in Justice Muhammad as the acting CJN on the same day he controversially suspended the immediate-past CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, based on an ex parte order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal that has been discredited by the Court of Appeal.
The police on January 28, 2019, the first work day after Onnoghen’s suspension, sealed off the CJN’s office and other adjoining ones, ejecting administrative staff.

We’ll disgrace, arrest Buhari in Japan – – Attention seeking Kanu

Daring President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu said members of the group in the Republic of Japan had received orders from him to disgrace and arrest the President when he arrived the Asian country on Sunday.

According to Kanu, President Buhari must be arrested and handed over to Japanese authorities to enable him to answer for his alleged mass murder and crimes against humanity, which he allegedly committed in Nigeria between 2015 and 2019.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, had earlier on Friday informed Nigerians that the President would leave Nigeria for Japan on Sunday to participate in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development, holding in the City of Yokohama from August 28-30, 2019

Credit to from @instablog9ja #NnamdiKanu orders IPOB members to arrest, disgrace #Buhari in Japan

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has urged it’s members in Japan to arrest Pres. Buhari when he arrives the country and hand him over to security operatives because he his an impostor.

Buhari will depart Abuja on Sunday for Japan to participate in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) holding in the City of Yokohama, August 28-30, 2019.

Reacting to the trip, IPOB insisted that Buhari was Jibril Al-Sudan masquerading himself as Nigerian President. A statement signed by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on Friday reads: .

“The formidable IPOB family in Japan is hereby placed on direct order to ensure the impostor Jubril Al-Sudani, masquerading as the late dictator Buhari, is arrested and handed over to the authorities when he sets foot on Japanese soil.

He is not only a fake president, he is wanted for mass murder and crimes against humanity for his role in previous and ongoing genocide in Biafraland. Under Japanese law an impostor is a common criminal and subject to citizens arrest. .

International diplomatic protocol as it relates to visiting heads of state is not applicable in this instance because whoever Abba Kyari is sending to Japan is not the real Buhari. We must make sure he is apprehended and handed over to the police in Japan.

Any legal fall-out emanating from any confrontation will end up in a Japanese court where we will be able to establish before the world that Jubril is indeed a fake Buhari.”

🙄🙄: Buhari marks 400th anniversary of slave trade abolition with article in Washington Post

Why and why again are our leaders always doing this shit? Why do we always have to do very irreverent things in this country to divert  attention from the main issue of this nation?with the suffocating issues of this country, why are you celebrating slave abolition? What will that do for you? And to think that With all the bloggers in this world and in your country, Buhari who rearly recalls things, even remembered to celebrate such an insignificant time at a time like this in the life of Nigeria?

In that case, Nigerians will like to celebrate being a live despite all odds and horrible looting that they have witnessed and survived while walking in the same street with the looters themselves being assigned brand new positions by the man who said he was going to fight them on our behalf.

Now back to this post as seen on punch news this morning..

President Muhammadu Buhari has called for the abolition of slavery in all modern forms in a opinion article he published in The Washington Post to mark the  International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition.

See the write-up:

Four centuries ago, the first 20 documented African slaves arrived on the shores of Virginia. In the years that followed, millions more were shipped in dehumanizing conditions across the ocean and enslaved. Slavery had, of course, existed before. But this indicated the beginning of a mechanized trade that saw human beings reduced to property on an unprecedented scale

About time : Be ruthless with bandits —Buhari to Military

To the relief of the whole world and that of the innocent people that have fallen victim to this crazy bandits, the President of the federal republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari has finally decided to call a spade a spade by charging  the military to be more spontaneous in restoring peace to the country, particularly states troubled by bandits.

An order that hasn’t been stated this clearly long before now, and to think that the President knew just what he was expected to say long before now, and he just kept mute?

He was said to have given  the order in Katsina on Saturday while ordering them “not to spare bandits’’. A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu released in Abuja on Saturday, said the order had become necessary in view of the fact that the bandits had been killing, maiming and extorting innocent citizens.

Shehu said the president was addressing 15 officers and 160 soldiers of the 17th Army Brigade and Nigerian Air Force 213 Operational Base in Katsina, under the “Operation Hadarin Daji’’, at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport, Katsina.

The statement quoted President Buhari as saying, “This group was formed by the military to secure the geo-political zone from the activities of bandits. Fundamentally, it is your responsibility to secure the country.

Girls, ladies, give your lives to Christ and not your pastors! (IV)

One thing is clear, it isn’t ever over emphasized to state this fact. The fact that many people allow the thin line between loving God and loving your pastor inappropriately to be erased completely. People who are very sane and with the best sense of judgement are seen doing the most when it comes to pleasing their pastor. They are so dependent on pastor that they go as far as letting hind evide when they take their breathe.

You might consider it very over emphasized and unnecessary to be saying this, but to be honest, not in Nigeria will this topic ever be considered unnecessary. So this woman is taking out time to restate the fact once again from an interview done with punchnews..

I didn’t say no pastor can be trusted, what I meant was that it is unhealthy for a girl/lady to go on an exclusive prayer retreat with any man of God! I’d repeat that point for clarity sir.

Don’t follow your father-in-the-Lord to an exclusive prayer retreat specially organised for you alone!

It could be a bait to lodge you in the same hotel room with him and have carnal knowledge of you! Countless women and girls have fallen into this evil trap by satanic men and till today they can’t confide in the people closest to them least of all the world, because most people won’t believe them!

Worse still, a lot of them can’t get the pigs off their heads yet they’ve moved on to laying almost half the women in their church! Please…please…please…Don’t be too close to any man-of-God in this wise! No one can be trusted!”

51 years after giving land for Kainji hydropower, host communities wallow in darkness, poverty

AFEEZI HANAFI, who visited the Kainji Dam area in Niger State, writes that the communities who migrated to other areas to make a way for the hydropower projects are in the grip of darkness and poverty

Fifteen-year-old Seyida Ahmed doesn’t have even the faintest idea of city life unlike her peers residing in urban centres. Her world is stuck in dreary rural life.

She has learnt functions of home appliances at school, but longs for the day she will physically see a refrigerator, an electric cooker or a pressing iron working .

For her and other children in Shagunu, a drab suburb of Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, watching films on television is a rare privilege they enjoy once or twice a week in the evening. They only savour such moments after trekking a two-kilometre distance to the residence of a villager, Mahmud Adamu, located near Shagunu Government Day Secondary School.

As queen, I can only marry a woman –Dunkwu, Omu of Anioma

The Omu of Anioma, Martha Dunkwu, is a revered traditional ruler of Anioma land, which covers nine local government areas in Delta State. Anioma people are the Igbo located in Delta, who are separated from the Igbo in the South-East by the River Niger. Dunkwu tells OCHEI MATTHEW about the historical background of the Omu, its spirituality and others

What has been the most interesting part of being the monarch?

The most interesting part is the fact that the throne is indigenous to Anioma people. The two titles of Omu: Omu queen mother and Eze Nwayi (queen). Our forefathers’ intention was for the Omu to be a queen in charge of women. So, you find out that when I go all over the country, people look at me as if I’m a TV screen or movie star because they had not seen such before. Our former governor, Chief James Ibori, wrote me a goodwill message when I celebrated my 50th birthday, 14 years ago.
How did you feel when you got to know that you would become the traditional ruler?

Well, initially I was apprehensive because in the past, Omus were women in their early 80s and 90s and as you are aware, Omu doesn’t get married. And if you are married, once you become Omu, you must leave your marital home. However, I was not married so I didn’t have any issue with having to leave my husband. I wasn’t quite sure of how I would handle it but when I was convinced that it was the intention of God, I took it upon myself to do the right thing and I will continue to do to the right thing.

How has your life as a female monarch been?

Rosy…(laughs). Well, it’s challenging when you cannot marry, go into a relationship or attend a burial. There are so many things you cannot do as Omu.”
