from @coveringpotus – President Trump on Thursday dismissed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s criticism of White House adviser Jared Kushner as a “slumlord.”
from @nytimes – In less than 24 hours, 2 mass shootings in the United States have left at least 29 people dead. The killings are the latest in a particularly brutal week for gun violence in the country. On Saturday, a 21-year-old gunman turned a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, into a scene of chaos in an attack that left at least 20 people dead and 26 others wounded. About 13 hours later, a man stormed an entertainment district in Dayton, Ohio, and killed at least 9 people and wounded another 27. Last week, a gunman killed 3 people and wounded 13 others in a shooting at a garlic festival in Gilroy, California. In all, there have been at least 32 mass shootings — defined as 3 or more killings in a single episode — in the U.S. this year. @adrianazehbrauskas, Jorge Salgado, @cttobin, @howdyluke and Carlos Sanchez took these photos, which are from Dayton and El Paso. This is a developing story. Visit the link in our bio for the latest updates.
from @coveringpotus – “For decades, these communities have been run exclusively by Democrat politicians, and it’s been total one-party control of the inner cities,” President Trump said of Baltimore and other liberal cities, escalating attacks on diverse communities, and telling a crowd in Cincinnati on Thursday that Democrats “deliver poverty for their constituents and privilege for themselves.” Trump steered clear of mentioning lawmakers by name in a departure from his recent attacks on Rep. Elijah Cummings, whose district includes parts of Baltimore, and four minority Democratic congresswomen, including Rep. Ilhan Omar. Trump made only a passing mention to “four left-wing extremists” who he said are now leading the Democratic Party, then told the crowd in Cincinnati: “We can name one after another, but I won’t do that, because I don’t want to be controversial. We want no controversy.” The president’s remarks were in line with his recent denunciations of liberal enclaves as violent, dirty and outside the mainstream. Trump offered no policy proposals for how he plans to address the problems he says plague numerous cities across the country. Read more by clicking the link in our bio. from @coveringpotus – President Trump on Friday morning seemed to make light of reports that a Baltimore home owned by Rep. Elijah Cummings was burglarized last weekend. “Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!” Trump tweeted. State property records list the burglarized rowhouse in West Baltimore’s Druid Heights neighborhood as owned by the congressman and his wife, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, the chairwoman of the Maryland Democratic Party, the @baltimoresun reported.
