Obyorijifitness: Is there a body size, that can never be reduced through exercise.

Obyorijifitness
Obyorijifitness
Obyorijifitness

Before we start, I will like to state that because the Governemnt of Nigeria, does not hand out welfare to anyone,no matter your situation,  it means that everybody, be you on the light or heavy side, will have to work, or rely on a relative, to feed you. So in reality, what this means is that, the size of mobidly obsess people we have abroad( U.S, Canada,U.K), in Countries where their Governemnt actually feeds the handicaps, they have a lot larger obsess people than what we have in Nigeria. Big  women in Nigeria are surprisingly very active. They still seen walking to their stores, going to the market, preparing their kids for school, and having a normal life.

The difference here in these two circumstances, is that fact while the government and family members of the other countries, helps the citizens get that big, which in some other people’s words, ‘Encourages’ them to keep living the unhealthy life style that is killing them, their counterparts in Nigeria actually have to face their very own consequences, they run their homes the normal way that everyother person is doing, because no one has the time to baby sit them.

But the question here today is this:

.Is there a particular weight that has been seen as an impossible an irreversible place to return from? . The answer is :

Obyorijifitness
Obyorijifitness

.Absolutely not.

Every  body  weight is completely reversible with a better diet and excercise. The issue with some people is that, after losing their fat, due to the extremities involved in their obesity, their skin gets extremely stretched, and they cannot even get a normal life until they have undergone a skin tuck surgery, where they have their excess skin removed, for them to feel better and lighter to live a normal life.

So with this said, there actually is no size you are currently on, that can’t be drastically reduced with exercise and diet. Say “No” to that voice in your head, telling you that it is a scam that they tell you all these positive stories, for you to buy products. You are limiting yourself, not the body. So please, especially the women, if you are ashamed or conscious of your body, and don’t want to be made fun of, the hire a personal trainer who can either have a private workout session with you in the gym, or at your home.

Many of us in this era, have no idea what the fore women/mothers of the previous era went through, to make their monthly visitor bearable while they lived a difficult life.  Right now we consider the pain and discomfort that comes with the period, (even though the drugs for that have also been made available), as the ultimate problem of every woman in her menstrual circle. But have you imagined not having any sanitary pad on and still have to deal with a menstrual pain? Well this was the predicament of  the women before the invention of sanitary pad.

Enjoying  the comfort of sanitary pads and tampons that have been provided,  to give us maximum comfort, but we have no idea who thought of this comfort from centuries ago. I have had one of those days when I just sit, and wonder what we would have been using if sanitary pads weren’t invented by these smart individual.  Well, Meet Mary Beatrice Kenner, the woman who changed life with her invention.  Since menstruation has been there since creation of women, I can only imagine what many women of past centuries had done to relief themselves of the monthly blood Mary of their lives.

This is the reason why I peeked to find out the one who God used to make us comfortable. And here she is, She is remembered for providing the world of feminine care with the invention of the sanitary belt, the forerunner of the self-adhesive maxi pad. Her creation was considered by most to be the first form of modern menstruation protection, which led to the creation of the maxi pad, and then mini pads, and then tampons, and many others.

On behalf of all men and women alive, we say a big thank you to Our Menstrual heroine, Mary Beatrice Kenner.

At what period during pregnancy should you stop exercising?

Pregnancy health

Contrary to what our parents were told in the olden days, that a pregnant woman, is suppose to stay away from the public and strenuous activities, she is pampered and attended to, she is suppose to lay in bed, being taken care of while driving her husband crazy, she is expected to feed herself and the foetus through out the period of nine months, and then when the tile comes for her to be delivered of the baby, the midwives will show up and help her through the process. Now when I say olden days, I mean the times before my grandparents. This is because my grandmothers werent in fact pampered wives.  They all had farmlands beside and far away from home. They practically did twice what my grandfathers did, which involved  bearing them children, and still went to the farm to with these kids to cultivate and harvest a farm land that was either their’s or leased. My grandmothers though not physically huge or giangitic, but they sure made it clear that they both weren’t lazy women of their time. My grandmothers will hit the farm before sunrise, and till the land till evening no matter the month of their pregnancy. I t was in the records that one of my grand mothers actually gave birth to her first child in the farmland. There wasn’t any machine to accurately predict her date of delivery, even though she knew the time was very close. But she wasn’t going to seat at home and wait for he time to come to her. Instead, she had her delivery kits with her wherever she went to, just in case she had to do it all by herself.

Pregnancy health
Pregnancy health

And just like that, she did it by herself in the farm, surrounded by her little step daughters who did nothing more than quiver and turn away to protect her privacy. For everything these women did, they got some for me of exercise from it. When they cooked in a kitchen that was detached from the main house, they had to walk fast to and fro depending on what they Were cooking. When they went out, they walked long distances to pay visits and reach the farm, but the wealthy ones would always use their bicycle, which was an impeccable form of exercise. When they feed their husbands or went shopping, hey would walk to a far way mark and come back home hold whatever they had bought, not ,after the weight of it.  With all of these activities, these women were not as constantly complaining about stress like the women of our generation.

The women of this generation have been known to undertake the least amount of physical activities. They have a kitchen that is right beside the sitting and dining room, they have their cars taken them to every part of town, and in a case where they don’t, they are  seen in Uber, taxi, buses, tricycles, bikes, trains, and planes. They women are being pampered by their families, husbands, and society at large. They are not in anyway seen going through the required among of physical activities while pregnant. But as science may have it, the availability of the gym, and personal trainers, and even cardio, have tried to fill the vacuum of the laziness that science that provided us with. Women are now told by doctors to engage more in physical activities, and movements, because at some point, men  thought that pampering a wife entails letting her stay indoor for ever, never letting her lift a pin especially when she is pregnant, not involving her in his exercises because it is meant for men. Women who gym were a one point were accused of looking for more than just being fit. They were told that they are desperately wanting to be men, they men in a woman’s form, they were women who wanted to date their fellow women, they were woman who want to teach other women to stop being submissive. No way. A woman who doesn’t want to be submissive, might be slim and fragile, fat and mobidly obsess, muscular and fit. Any woman in any form, might be stubborn and refusing to be under a man. So don’t show your lack of intelligence by saying that women who work out, and the ones who never want to be under a man. It has nothing to do with it. I love to workout, and I love the sanctity of marriage and family.

Pregnancy health
Pregnancy health

When a women conceives, she is not suppose to crawl into a hole and hibernate till it is time to birth the offspring. Women in this category, should always  visit their doctors, who will declared them fit to carry on with the exercise. When you,i as a woman is pregnant, you do not stop exercising at any point of the pregnancy, unless advised by the doctor. The only thing you are expected to do, is to reduce the magnitude of the exercise, because a new life now depends on your wellbeing and strength.

Pregnancy health
Pregnancy health

Since exercise is a good source of strength, it helps a pregnant women get even more agile for her day to day life. While you avoid exercising till you pass out, you equally exercise enough to keep the both of you active and healthy.  So at no point are you expected to stop exercising during pregnancy, you should simply hear from your doctor, and reduce the magnitude. Is this clear to you now?

Pregnancy health

And to you dear men, locking up a women in the hose during pregnancy, is an act that is only exhibited by a person looking for trouble. Both mentally and physically.

Five persons have been confirmed dead following the outbreak of Lassa fever in Ondo state.

Lassa Fever

According to Sahara Reporter Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, the Commissioner for Health in Oyo State, confirmed this in a phone conversation with Sahara Reporter in Akure on last Wednesday night, that five persons have died following the influenza breakout of Lassa fever.

The Rat inspired sickness, which has been known  to come from dirtiness, a case that is sill the biggest issue after corruption in Nigeria. The reason for the persistence of this particular kind of sickness, is the fact that Nigeria has not completely conquered her waste management system. The case of Waste in Nigeria, is an issue  that Nigerian leaders require experts from Countries to come teach use how they have done this. The obvious need for this, it for the fact that every so called  leaders who have claimed one special skill or the other  to solve the big problem, have not done anything so far, instead they just collect an aoutrageous amount from the Country’s revenue box, and hide it for their generations yet unborn, while the problem persist and they leave the government seat with enough money to last them a live time.

Lassa Fever
Lassa Fever

what Nigerians practice, is ‘waste transportation‘ . The simply receive your waste for the point of recepient from take it to a new point, (at Ikeja 7up), and then burn it there. Which is the reason why that area is known to stink like a morgue. The worst part of it, is that it is a presidential area. People actually live close to this smell? Can you imagine the number of rats that will be coming that place, and into the residents of citizens? This is Lagos State, it is  a place that is representing the entire Nigeria, and if it has not conquered the problem of waste management, even though they have been on it. So you can imagine what  other state are into right now with their waste management.

They are probably submerged into it, which is the reason why this thing called LASSA fever, has refused to leave. States like Jos, and Calabar tha take the issue of waste very serious.

So we clearly need experts from Countries that have succeeded in conquering their human generated waste, to come in and help us out. We can only get rid of this, when we have sorted this issue of waste management in our Country.

A hypertensive mother  slumps and dies after SARS arrested son .

instablog9ja-1517307257546

A 42-year-old fragile woman has died of shock after her son’s arrest by some Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) operatives. .

According to a report by TheNation, Asiata Adeyanju slumped and died close to her 9, Ajenifuja Street, Ilupeju, Lagos home on Wednesday night. She was said to be hypertensive. .

It was gathered that the FSARS operatives from Ipakodo Division in Ikorodu, who have been allegedly picking people up at random in the area in the last two weeks, arrested Muiz, the deceased’s 17-year-old son, when he was about switching on the generator in front of their home. .

The operatives allegedly slapped Muiz and hurled him into an unmarked van. A neighbour simply identified as Emmanuel, a teacher, was said to have been slapped by the operatives when he tried to stop them from taking the boy away. .

It was gathered that the late Mrs Adeyanju ran out with only her wrapper and chased the police van. She slumped at a spot, but later died while being rushed to a nearby hospital.

Her husband, Musendiku Adeyanju, later met with the operatives at Ilupeju Junction, off Adesiyan Street, to secure his son’s release. It was gathered that the operatives hurriedly left the area when they learnt of Muiz’s mother’s death. None of those arrested was taken to the police station, as they were all left behind out of fear.

They allegedly secured their release at an undisclosed price. There was wailing on Ajenifuja Street yesterday when Mrs Adeyanju’s body was brought back home. Sympathisers rained curses on the operatives, describing FSARS as “evil organisation”. .

Some residents complained that the operatives had been coming to the area for “illegal raids and indiscriminate arrests”.

At his wife’s funeral, Mr Adeyanju 43, was all tears. .
He described his wife’s death as “devastating agony”, wondering what his son’s offence was to warrant his arrest by the FSARS.

MY OPINION:

This is what people are faced with in this Country. But should this be the seen as the fault of the SARS operatives, or just a bad coincidence?

She was hypertensive, and slump from shock while running down the street after the van that arrested her son.

People with high blood pressure, will at one point tell themselves that they have to control their extent of reaction. You can’t react to everything that happens around you, the same way that you reacted before you got the illness. In this case, the young man has been released, but the mum has died out of fear.

please, all you mother and father’s out there, might be very busy, but you should still find time to exercise your body. It is for your own good, you won’t have to deal with this life long illnesses, and you get to look younger, better and strong than you peers. Please help your self out there. This mother wasn’t the only one who got her child arrested, but she had the weakness heart to take the news. Please help yourself Dear Nigerians out there.

Nigerian man shares his incredible weight loss.

Incredible weight loss

A Nigerian man, who how’s by the name Emeka Okeke aka Baba Mutu from Enugu State, eastern Nigeria, has  shown off his incredible new size, after being over weight for as long as he could remember.

Incredible weight loss
Incredible weight loss

He was said to have undergone a weight loss procedure, where his belly was tired to prevent the amount of food he takes. He began his weight loss journey after his weight became a life threatening issue. This goes to show how much power the human mind has, but if only we know.

The difference between when he was morbidly and when he had lost weight is so incredibly different, that his two legs could fit into one leg of his trousers.

Incredible weight loss
Incredible weight loss

The other part about loosing so much weight is that you automatically look older than your actual age. You can become whatever you want to be. If this Enugu man can take down half the weight of his body mass, then you should know that the human MIND is so powerful that it can serve as a hindrance, or a push for whatever you want to achieve in life.

Do not scare yourself all by yourself. You have the power to achieve whatever you put your mind to. Don’t let it take so long before you try out things you want. It is never too late, and you are never too old to achieve your dream body, house, job, and life. #obyorijifitness💪

A Nigerian man washes his hands regular only when he gets a whimp of Ebola?

Hand washing

After reading this article, the very next time you try to exchange a hand shake with a Nigerian man, this write up right  will run right through your mind. Try to handle it the most mature way possible, instead of embarrassing the next person.

Did you guys know that for people to adequately have a good  toilet hygiene, they would actually have a good source of water?  In Nigeria, those who live in a well furnished, well paid for, and well piped houses, and in a gated community, are the people who can afford a good toilet hygiene. Now how about those in a slump? Those who don’t have access to a drinkable water, talk more of water with which to wash their hands .

Hand washing
Hand washing routine

But in a Country where most people ease themselves in a gutter by the road side, in a bush, under a tree, on the wall of a police station, or even the wall of a prominent establishment that clearly has a sign prohibiting the act, because the staff of that organisation actually have no toilet in their office, and no one stops these people from carry on such act. Flushing after using the toilet is a big issue for investigation in Nigeria, talk more of washing your hands after using the toilet.

In every sense of the word hygiene, since the males actually come in direct contact  with their genitals while they pass number 1 out, they are expected to be the ones who should take the issue of washing your hands after using the toilet serious, but instead, they are the ones who don’t care about it the most.

Hand washing
Hand washing

Nigerian girls all over the nation, have had it impeded on their mind that they have to wipe their genitals after using the toilet for numbers 1&2, which then  attracts having to wash their hands when water is available, or even just wipe it. Because if they don’t, they will have to deal with a pee smell resting on their genitals and under wears for the rest of the day. Most people consider the Muslims relative neat since they perform ablution for 5 times a day, washing different parts of the bodies before prayers, might raise a argument that they are neater than the Christians, but we equally can’t guarantee that.

This today and this time around, it is to talk about the more and more men in the world who see the act of hand washing  after using the rest room, more and more irrelevant as the days go by. The only time you see a Nigerian man take hand washing as serious as he should every day, is when the news of Ebola breaks in any part of the Country.

Hand washing
Hand washing

That is the very time, a Nigerian man is ready to wash his hands after every breathe he takes.

Does it mean that for every 8 Nigerian men you exchange  hand shake with in a day, you have directly touched the penis of 5 out of the 8 men. Going from the gateman, the policeman, the mechanic, the staff, the neighbour, the driver, the guy next door, and the receptionist.

They decent ones are those who are considerate enough to walk into a toilet to ease themselves, rather than on every corner of the roadside. Talking only about those who simply go to pee without washing their hands, will only elevate the status of the perverted ones. There is a high percentage of perverted minds in our society, so if you think you are only coming in contact with unwashed hands, then you are being unrealistic, because there are even worse things than  that, we touch everyday without knowing.

So when next you want to chew on something with your bare hands at work or on the street, please wash your hands. Don’t wait until your hands are brown and dusty before you consider them worthy if a wash.

The clean looking ones, are the ones carry germs and spermatozoa of Coworkers. You don’t know of these things you have consumed, do not continue that dirty life.

Hand washing
Hand washing

Dear men, wash your hands after using the toilet, and Dear women, wash your hands as well, but always wash before eating your food. You might say you eat with a spoon, but we unknowingly pick up a piece of meat with out bare hands to take a bite and drop it back into the plate of food.

Help yourself and help the world. Stop imposing your bodily fluid on people.

The best Antibacterial and antifungal for sensitive skin.

Skineal

Sensitive skin folks like me, have had the typical experience of using products they thought were promised to help them, but only ended up getting another treatment to the harm that product had added to their predicament.

Skineal
Skineal

As a sensitive skin, I am prone to heat rashes that come from high humidity and increase  in the sun temperature, especially in the Southern part of the Country. A little injury can turn red and sometimes green, before going black in healing, leaving a scar right behind. Also, I am considered prone to very visible insect bite marks, and quick reactions to things (lotions or creams) applied on my skin.

I consider myself a very sensitive skin type of person because of the reaction I have received from life’s activities. I sweat easily, have rashes easily, and itch easily.

Skineal
Skineal

Some people were born with sensitive skin, while the rest (majority) developed it from the life style chosen, or gotten. For example, using a bleaching cream on your skin, taking a medication that you reacted to, and lastly, as a result of allergies.

Today, we will be looking at the best antifungal and anti bacterial for sensitive skin. That will be my VERY second best tubular content  “SKINEAL“. The first being the toothpaste.

Skineal
Skineal

Skineal has come to stay in my family for years now. Everyone at home has a tube in their room, used to treat sun burn reactions, scars, Acne, heat rashes, skin pigmentation, exfoliation, used to lighten the body,  killing bacterial applying to moisture the tough skin.

In my home, we see SKINEAL as the answer to every skin problem. *You are welcome* give it a try, and tell me about  your experience.

Skineal
Skineal

It is now being sold from N400-N600. In  PHARMACYS, not road side.

The presence of fake products  all over the world, has made it hard to authentically say that a particular tube of skineal is the original.

The confusing result, when a baby doesn’t receive antenatal care in the worm.

Pregnancy health

Answers to this question will rely on the condition of the baby, the habits of the mother, but mostly the intention of MOTHER NATURE. This simply means  that some babies were made strong, while some others weren’t, for no reason.

We have heard of mothers who didn’t know they were pregnant until the delivery day came, they felt excruciating pain and went straight into labour thinking they were having medical issue, only for them to be told that they have  gone into active labour.

Most people will swear that it is an impossible story for a person not to know that they were pregnant, But I will always look at them with a smirk smile, and say. “This world is too deep, and we will never know it all.”

Pregnancy health
Pregnancy health

This is because Some mothers eat everything they want, dust, chalk, sand, not having any form of care during their pregnancy, drinking liquor with high percentage of alcohol in them, smoke everything smokable, mostly because they didn’t know they were pregnant, because they saw their period (spotting ) all through the nine months. *Even though some people intentionally drink when they know they are pregnant.*

This same category of people like I said earlier,  will only realise they are pregnant when they have been rushed to the emergency world, or when they have surprisingly had their babies in the toilet, bathtub, car, bush, bedroom any unusual place you can think of, and in a matter of just minutes, they have their babies and you realise that the babies are fill term, healthy, and having no health issues whatsoever.

Pregnancy health
Pregnancy health

Some other women will eat  right, workout, have regular checkups, abstain form drinking and smoking, monitor their baby for the entire nine months with all kinds of doctors and devices, only for them to go into labour that will last for as long as 12 hours or more, and then have a baby who requires medical attention..

People have even come up with the notion that exposing the unborn baby to excessive rays from hospital machines may have led to the health issue that babies these days are born with, and suffer from. Some health  issues we have these days, even with the availability of our modern day technologies, were never there in the olden days.

Pregnancy health
Pregnancy health

In those days, had babies everywhere,   including while working on the farm. while they worked, they step aside, have their baby, come back and continue with their farming afterwards. So please don’t put all your instinct in the hands of a doctor whose medical journey, IQ, and experience you cant trace. Meaning that you don’t know how good a doctor any one is.

So please take care of you and the baby, the best way possible, and don’t be carefree with the life you are creating in you.

Pregnancy health
Pregnancy health

From my experience, I don’t not think Antenatal guarantees an unborn baby’s health status.

The West African belief about Pregnancy and Alcohol.

Palmwine consumption during pregnancy

For as long as we can remember, we have hear of the prohibited Rule for the pregnant women of the western world. Many times it even had back ups from the doctors. Women staying away from alcohol, has become a thing the entire public of the western world now take into their hands to make  sure that pregnant woman don’t come fifty feet to the tempting beautiful round cork of a beer bottle, talk more of Rum, whisky and vodka, including brandy.

Palmwine consumption during pregnancy
Palmwine consumption during pregnancy

We will like to think that the percentage of alcohol in these drinks may have been the reason for the strict law passed on expectant  women. In Africa, alcohol is a thing you take out time to go have which would sometimes come off as rebellious or even wild to the very next eye witnessing your level of alcohol in take. But over the years, with series of indigenous beer company opening up in Nigeria and Africa, it is becoming a normal thing to have beer and alcohol in gatherings, events, parties and even burials right now in Nigeria. The percentage of alcohol in beer is definitely not as high as in the other alcoholic drinks, and in every sense of it, all other alcoholic drinks apart from the beer, are considered a foreign entity in the African system.Drinks like Guinness, Orijin, e.t.c.  which were made with locally sourced ingredients, have been whole heartedly accepted by the Nigerian society.

This is clearly proven in the day to day behaviors of Nigerian beer consumers routine. On an everyday after work chill, Nigerians go for beer as a normal drink of theirs, but when a special occasion present itself in the form of a birthday party, a wedding, gatherings of any sort, even at clubs, they always make it a very important occasion when they pop champagne and wine, only done by the adults. Who have always been warned to drink responsibly.

While in the western world, right from an early age, kids see their parents drink wine at the dinner table, lunch time, and Evey other gathering.  These kids are constantly told that they have to be of a certain age, to ever get to told the adults in sharing a bottle of wine.

Nothing urges the interest of humans than prohibition. When you tell someone that they can’t do something, you will definitely sit back and watch them do everything in her power to do that you have talked about. For this reason, the kids in the western world are always trying to consume every drop of alcohol they can lay their hands on, before ever attaining the legal age of alcohol consumption (21 years), Which was too dangerous for them to handle, thereby sending them into the Abuse of it all, and even have them needing to go to an institution to get back to their normal self before they ever tasted alcohol for the first time. But this is even harder than they had ever imagined.

THE AFRICAN PREGNANCY AND ALCOHOL BELIEF.

Africans have always considered their own type of alcohol the healthiest. Before the whites came all the way to our innocent land with the ‘helping hands’ idea, Africans have always considered themselves sufficient. They ate what then grew, they  governed themselves, and even provided their very own civilization.

Before the brewed, and bottled, filtered, and sieved wine we see today, there had always been PALM WINE.  The presence of palm wine dates back all the way to BC, when palmwine tappers in the olden days considered themselves one of the most  successful tradersof their times. They practically were the Kardashians of their time. They were the  brewery of the village, community, state, and Country of their time. They sold Palm wine to everyone, marrying the best maidens in the village.

Alcohol being so naturally gotten from Palm trees were very healthy for every one who consumed it.  it was drunk by the entire village. The pregnant and non pregnant mothers, the men, and the children all had alcohol, and it never had any side effect.

The nutritional value of palmwine can never be over emphasized. When wives did good in the sight of their husbands in the olden days,  they were gifted freshly tapped Palm wine from the best tapper in town, and this included the pregnant women. So when Africans grew up with the notion that our Palm wine is vital for every living human as well as the unborn babies. They weren’t wrong, untill the white came with their own chemical containing alcohol, that is obviously harmful to the humans, and even more harmful to the unborn babies. So while the whites say alcohol is bad for a foetus, based on the kind of alcohol they consumed, and then urban Nigerian equally says that same thing , we belief them. But when the rural (villagers) say that the Alcohol they consume there, is healthy for the expectant mother, then we should belief them. Because they are right, based on their own type of alcohol.

From my explanation, it is Now clear that alcohol is good for the pregnant women in the village African setting, only when it is the typical alcohol of the Nigerian people. I really love the primitively days, and I love the idea it carried.

I beg to say that even with all the doctors report, babies these days are still faced with higher challenges that are hard to fathom, a lot higher than when they drank alcohol.

Here is a substitute for the sugary Nigerian drinks for school kids.

Healthy Zobo drinks for kids.

I am not sure why Nigerian  parents give out huge sum of  money to their kids in primary schools for lunch. They will always have their reasons, but I am not in support of that.

I belief that at that age, kids shouldn’t be exposed to money, talk more of huge sums like N500 for lunch in one day. What exactly do you think your child will eat for lunch in a day, that will cost him/her N500? You don’t start things like this, and after the child has gotten use to it,later on in life, you wake up and decide to stop. When I was in primary school, Lunch were made for us from homes. Mothers were actually doing their career and family duties. Giving out money required  very special occasions, and the amount never got up to N500.

Exposing your child to money at such a tender age, takes away their innocence as kids. Are you doing it because someone you are trying to be like, is doing it. Are you doing it to show that you have a wealthy family, there by sending out the wrong messages to the parents of your kids friends? Trying to create a gap between you and  the parents who can’t afford handing their kids N500 every day as lunch money.

You see kids buying expensive things.  when asked, they say it is from their savings. When a 5 year old tells you that he/she has saved up N10000 from his lunch money in a month, then  it immediately becomes clear that something is wrong with that picture.

Parents today belief that all they need to do it to give birth. And afterwards, have the school and community train the child on their behalf. They are now the so called ‘working moms of our generation’, that they think what their kids lack in motherly attention, they can make up for, with huge sums of money to buy whatever they want.

When I was undergoing my National youth service Corp(NYSC), I was attached to a primary school where I thought 18 subjects to kids. I got to see kids who just got weaned, start school. I became a morning soothing mother to some of the babies. For their parents to escape peacefully, they hand the kid to the Corper (me), before running away.

The moment these kids take their first shaky step, *needing their teachers to carry them almost all day,* they get enrolled in school.  These kids are still  very much attached to their moms, that when ever they are about to be dropped off in school, they literally cry so much, that it lasts so long even after assembly is over.

The parents hand a thousand Naira note to kids who have not even started saying a word of speech yet, kids who stick money into  their mouth, their lunch boxes have food and all kinds of sugary drinks in them. These kids stay from 7am- 4pm all day. When these kids cry, A sugary  drink is plugged into their mouth, sending them to immediate  silence.

All kinds of sugary and unhealthy drinks are flooding the shops and kiosks that sell kids lunch. My Boss once tasted one of these juices that came in a cute bottle shaped nylon, and it was incredibly sugary, that my headmistress started regulating the way the school kids bought it.

She sometimes made them drink water after break, just to flush it off their systems, just in case they had gone behind her back to purchase it.

Before  these kids get to the age of 8, they become clearly obsessed with sugary junks. Nigerian kids are becoming so over weight these days, that I wonder who their pediatrist are. It is highly alarming and disturbing to see that wealthy kids  are so fat, while the kids of the others are so thin. Child obesity has taken over the Nigerian society, but parents see it as a good sign that their kids are living a wealthy life.

@saziz_kununaya tiger nut juice

Dear Nigerian parents, they  are not your specimen. You are damaging these kids, stretching their skin at such a tender age. Making up for your absence with extremely sugary foods, and drinks, is not what a mother and father should do to their kids. While you are away at work, they miss you  as a human, not the badly sweetened things you buy them.

SUBSTITUTES..

you can substitute  the soda, and very sugary drinks your kids take on a daily basis with healthier drinks like our locally made:

. Zobo, Kunu, and soya beans milk, tiger but juice with date palm and coconut.

These drinks all have their recipes flooding the Internet. So recipes for making them, can never be a problem to you Dear Parenst and guardian. You put in the amount of sugar you deem fit, and know thAt you trust the ingredients you are exposing your children to. Don’t trust all that company ingredients.

The unhealthy and extremely sugary foods, unhygienic street food, and un supervised food that these kids consume daily, can be changed. You  make them chin-chin, puff puff, amongst many other snacks, which now one again on are very much aware of the individual ingredients you have used. These things have their recipes flooding the entire internet, waiting  for you to try your hands on them. These may look like I am talking only to the Nigerian Parents, but it is not true. Other countries can out all of thes by themselves as well.

Involvie your kids in physical exercise and sop encouraging an unhealthy life by saying “this was how I was as a child, she  will lose the weight while growing up”. You clearly don’t excercise for you to have said that to a growing child. Don’t dampen their confidence by having their mates call the, fat all the time.

I remeber having a girl in my class back then, who was always coming to report on person or the other who called her fat. These kids might not tell you envy thing, but teachers see everything. So please, don’t leave every training for the teacher who is only doing the best she can, while being underpaid for the excessive work he/she does. Do you part Dear parents and guardians. Stop calling the police when teachers discipline your kids. We have been spat ding the rod and spoiling the child in this country for some decades now. The old leaders won’t act appropriate, while the young are not being brought up properly.

Stop feeding junk to your innocent kids who rely on you, to make right decision on their behalf, before they become independent.  Everyone can lose weight no Matter who you are. Stop saying the kids look like you because your parents made their own mistake of not helping you lose your weight as a child.

Dear Nigerian parents, help these kids.

Lagos State deploys over 900,000 electronically tracked waste bins.

Electronic trash truck in Lagos

According to Vanguard news,  Visionscape Group has taken delivery of a fresh batch of environment sanitation trucks to Lagos state, to be launch in the new year.

Driven from the port to one of their maintenance deport were, Compactors, trash trucks, trailer heads and other utility vehicles.

The Lagos State Government plans to deploy over 900,000 electronically tracked waste bins and 600 brand new compactors among other facilities to manage the over 10,000 metric tons of waste generated in the state daily.

I am honestly love the idea of the Lagos state government being clearly concerned with the waste situation of the state, that he actually makes a move towards improving it.

Even though our waste management is a big problem,  buying new things on the other hand, has never a problem in Nigeria. We as a Nation, are obsessed with importation and expensive purchases. But my in dividing concern has always been the maintenance culture of our leaders.

If this imported waste bin, and compactors get worn out and stop working in future, what then? Will the government have a maintenance system to service and repair these products when they develop faults? Or will they get another budget to just buy a brand new batch of the same thing, while the old ones sit by the road and rust in neglect, then become a bigger problem to the society than the dirt itself.

I really am concerned with ‘Maintenance‘ because that was my concern when we had these really new batch of eye candy BRTs, they were deliciously good looking, until they started to wear out, having broken parts, misused,  and no plans were made to fix them back up. They practically went from BRT to danfo buses in a matter of half a decade. Any body can wake up and  request for Government money to buy a new batch of public common goods. But when these goods need a little fixing and repainting, and rehabilitation, what happens then? They turn a deaf ear, and repeat the process of buying new ones all over again.

Electronic trash truck in Lagos

This has always been my problem and from the look of things, it hadn’t been fixed. Because everyday, I see things that make me wonder if this habit is only for COMMON GOODS.

Is this the way we manage out homes? Things go bad and we turn a blind eye to it, and replace it with a brand new one immediately? This needs to stop. Every day, we read about Nigeria borrowing money from foreign countries to fix one thing or the other, and then the money gets stolen by politician elected to protect it ,  no one is caught or held responsible, because they have many people involved in sharing the money, no maintenance culture, no follow ups.

Dear Lagos State Government, we need these things repaired and painted when the time comes, instead of replacing them.

This should be a job for Peter Obi.
