The President of Nigeria, president Muhammadu Buhari has turned a big old 75 years.
The retired major general first served as the country’s military head of state from December 31, 1983, to August 27, 1985, after taking over power from the democratic government of Shehu Shagari.
After three unsuccessful runs for the Nigerian presidency in 2003, 2007 and 2011, he was eventually elected the country’s president in 2015, defeating the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.
